DISPATCH
The Lyon County Sheriff's Communications Division (also known as Dispatch) is located in Yerington and consists of sixteen cross-trained employees including a manager, three shift supervisors, and twelve dispatchers.

The LCSO Communications Division handles all emergency and non-emergency calls for service for law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical needs within Lyon County. This includes public safety dispatching services for the Lyon County Sheriff's Office, Yerington Police Department, Yerington Paiute Tribal Police Department, four separate fire districts, Animal Control, and Juvenile Probation, as well as providing service to our public safety partners working within Lyon County such as State Parks, Carson City DAS, and many others.
Our staff goes through an extensive ten months of training that includes certification for APCO Emergency Medical Dispatching to provide pre-arrival instructions for medical emergencies as well as training to meet national standards in public safety communications and the FEMA Incident Command System.
Many members of our dispatch staff take part in a variety of other assignments including the Crisis Negotiations Team (CNT). They are also certified background investigators and certified in incident management.

The Communications Division is always interested in employing highly qualified dispatchers to join our team.
